Venue Information

The Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) is situated in the heart of Kota Kinabalu city, it is a six-hectare multi-function complex, the largest waterfront purpose-built conference, exhibition and entertainment facility in Borneo.

Spread over five levels, the well-designed floor plan at SICC features an expansive column-free convention hall with a retractable partition system divisible into three sections. Each multipurpose hall can cater for up to 1,500 delegates, offering a combined floor space of 6,800 square metres, including an extensive pre-function area.

On a separate level, are three contiguous exhibition halls encompassing a 5,200 square metres flexible event space plus six meeting rooms and private VVIP lounge. The top floor is dedicated to 13 individual private meeting rooms, while situated on level three are VIP rooms and VVIP lounges leading to the grand foyer of Sabah’s first world-class performing arts hall. The two-tier amphitheatre has a seating capacity of 1,250.

Connecting to the main lobby, an outdoor plaza of 7,000 square metres, set against a sunset backdrop of islands and the South China Sea, is well suited for open-air events.

How do I get to the Sabah International Convention Centre?

Fast growing air connectivity to Kota Kinabalu places Kota Kinabalu International airport the second busiest airport in Malaysia. There are direct flights from Perth, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Brunei, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Guang Zhou, Shanghai, Beijing and many more regional hubs. Between the capital city Kuala Lumpur where there are over 25 daily flights to Kota Kinabalu. BKI is the airport code.

Does the Sabah International Convention Centre have a storage area for deliveries?

Prearranged deliveries to the loading dock are accepted at the Sabah International Convention Centre during office hours, event organiser must be present on site to sign to receive the items.

How can I get to the airport from the Sabah International Convention Centre?

Taxi and e-hailing services are available to take you to Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the distance is 11km from the Sabah International Convention Centre.

How and where do I access the loading dock at the Sabah International Convention Centre?

The loading docks at Sabah International Convention Centre are located at the back of our building with dedicated access. Please remember that prior appointment to arrange for access to the loading dock must be booked with our events team in advance; which includes for all event move ins and move outs may be at an additional cost, where required.

Where are the public entrances for the Sabah International Convention Centre?

The main entrance is on Jalan Tanjung Lipat, along the coastal road off Kota Kinabalu city centre.

Is the Sabah International Convention Centre open to the public?

Due to private events that are in the building the Sabah International Convention Centre, the function rooms are not always open to the public. We do offer a public tour program on select days, subject to availability and building closures.

How accessible is the Sabah International Convention Centre?

Accommodating every needs of every visitor is part of what makes the Sabah International Convention Centre the venue of choice for event planners. Wheelchair access is made easy from all public access with designated undercover car parking space. Once inside, the facility is designed to accommodate patrons of all mobility levels with elevators access to every floor and wheelchair-accessible restrooms on all levels.

Does the Sabah International Convention Centre hold any tours for student groups?

There will be a student tour conducted once every two months, at Sabah International Convention Centre, we try to accommodate group tours for hospitality and tourism students who wish to explore the centre during off-peak period.

Where can I park at the Sabah International Convention Centre?

There are a total of 952 car parking and coach bays are available at the Convention Centre’s multi-tiered undercover car park.

Is catering provided at Sabah International Convention Centre?

An in-house team of internationally trained culinary experts complemented by food and beverage service professionals will help design memorable cuisines and provide exceptional venue experience for your guests. Ingredients used to create local and continental menus are locally sourced, farm fresh that support local agriculture and promotes sustainability.

The Sabah International Convention Centre is the sole provider of catering in the complex. Our banquet kitchen is Halal certified from The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia.

Does the Sabah International Convention Centre accommodate film/TV shoot?

The Sabah International Convention Centre welcomes filming requests from production and location managers for a variety of production needs. Please contact our sales department for more information.

Where is the reception/concierge area at Sabah International Convention Centre?

The reception desk is located on the Level 3 foyer and is open daily from 8am to 10pm.

How do I reach the lost and found department at the Sabah International Convention Centre?

At the end of the event, any unclaimed items may be submitted to The Sabah International Convention Centre housekeeping department, which inventories and holds the items for 90 days (with the exception of perishable goods such as food and drinks). Please note that the Sabah International Convention Centre is not responsible for lost or damaged items, it is up to the centre’s discretion to dispose of items.

Is Wi-Fi available at Sabah International Convention Centre?

Yes. The Sabah International Convention Centre offers Wi-Fi service to registered participants attending events at the centre.

Where is the nearest shop?

The nearest shopping malls are Jesselton Duty Free Mall and Suria Sabah Shopping Mall are located nearby, less than a 15-minute walk from the Sabah International Convention Centre.

Is there a mobile charging station or international universal/USB outlet power wall socket?

Yes. There will be throughout the complex.

What hotels are closest to the Sabah International Convention Centre?

Established international hotel brands lie within 5km of the Sabah International Convention Centre and a further 12,000 hotel rooms are within a 10km radius.

What is included in my basic function room rental at Sabah International Convention Centre?

A basic room rental includes use of the space for the designated time, as well as tables and chairs set-up in agreed layout style. Standard AV equipment is available, for more information please contact our sales team.

Will my delegates be required to get visas to travel to Sabah?

Please check with Immigration Department of Malaysia via www.imi.gov.my for visa requirements and entry permit into Malaysia.

What technical support is provided by Sabah International Convention Centre for my event?

The Sabah International Convention Centre has its own dedicated team of in-house technicians, including AV, lighting & sound technicians, stage managers and riggers. However, if you are conducting presentation from your laptop, please bring your own cables.

What languages are spoken in Sabah?

Our national language is Bahasa Malaysia. However, English is widely spoken as well as indigenous languages; Dusun, Kadazan, Bajau, Murut and others. Common Chinese dialects spoken in Sabah include Mandarin, Hakka and Cantonese.

What information do I need to provide for the Sabah International Convention technicians?

Apart from the relevant technical information required to set up your event, for our team to help facilitate a smooth and successful event, please provide a running order for your event that outlines timings and a brief description of what is happening at specific times during the event.

What is your policy on bringing animals into the Sabah International Convention Centre?

Certified guide/service/companion animals are always welcome at the Sabah International Convention Centre, and the following does not apply to these animals.Animals or pets, with the exception of service or companion animals, are generally not permitted in the Sabah International Convention Centre, except when an approved exhibit, pet expos, activity or performance legitimately requires the use of animals.

Such animals or pets must be on a leash or in an enclosed pen, and under strict supervision at all times. Owners must take full responsibility for their pets, obtaining all appropriate permits and taking care of all sanitary needs for the animals. Any charges for cleaning/repair will be billed to the client on the master account.

What format are your projection screens?

The portable projection screens are 120” x 120” AV(1:1) format

Conditions of Entry

These general conditions of entry are applicable to visitors, vendors, contractors, patrons and associates on duty at SICC and are subject to change without notice.

Visitors entering SICC must have an appointment, invitation, valid Event ticket, accreditation pass or registered to attend a specific event or function. Any person entering or attempting to enter SICC without prior authorisation or not in possession of a valid ticket to attend an Event, may be asked to leave SICC. The movement of all visitors/contractors within the SICC and its surrounds will be subject to the monitoring by CCTV cameras. All visitors are responsible for their own personal possessions and must not leave bags or possessions unattended at any time.

Medical Conditions - If you have a medical condition that requires you to carry medication (i.e. Epi-Pens, insulin pens, syringes etc.) or if you have a medical insert such as a pacemaker, please let security personnel know upon arrival.

As part of preventative safety measures for COVID-19, thermal scanners are installed at SICC entry points and all visitors and employees are required to register COVID-19 monitoring app.

No external food/beverages will be permitted entry to the Venue. Intoxicated and/or disorderly persons will be refused entry or evicted from the Venue. Smoking is prohibited inside SICC. Patrons who fail to obey a direction from authorised person/s to cease smoking, may be immediately evicted from SICC complex. Events that require tickets, attendees must not line up at the venue prior to 8.00am on the day of the event, early arrivals may be escorted from the complex.

The complex offer three contiguous Exhibition Halls with direct access to the loading docks and storage rooms, the exhibition hall encompasses a 5,177 square metres (55, 270 sqft) flexible event space which can accommodate up to 280 exhibition booths. Across from the spacious Pre-Function Hall are 6 separate meeting room of various sizes with an addition to a private VVIP lounge.

Level 3

The main entrance to the Convention Centre is located closest to the Performing Arts Hall, which is the complex’s signature centrepiece offering a seating capacity of 1,250 in a two-tier amphitheatre designed with built-in stage and technology advanced audio-visual and stage lighting.

Connecting to the main lobby is the outdoor plaza, set against a backdrop of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and the South China Sea which is well suited for open concerts and exhibitions. The multipurpose public area could fit up to a crowd of over 7,000.
